Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky confirmed that Russian forces are trying to control the “Chernobyl” nuclear power plant, considering it a “declaration of war on all of Europe”.
He wrote on Twitter: “Russian occupation forces are trying to take control of the Chernobyl power plant. Its defenders are sacrificing their lives so that the tragedy of 1986 is not repeated.”

Anton Gerashchenko, Advisor to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, said: “There are ongoing battles near the Chernobyl zone, where Russian forces entered from Belarusian territory.
And he wrote in “Telegram”: “Occupation forces entered the site of the “Chernobyl” factory from Belarus. Elements of the National Guard guarding the plant are facing strong resistance.”
