The YouTube comment spam problem is a real scourge. Well-known videographers know this, and it’s not uncommon for their videos to be spammed. Google platform just decided to implement place new tools for face to these practices.
Three Steps to Fight YouTube Spam
In the Twitter thread, YouTube did introduce three new measures that are heading in the right direction. The first will not allow videographers to hide the number of subscribers. In particular, this is done to ensure that account impersonators do not deceive other users. Thus, some attackers impersonate well-known YouTubers by mimicking their visuals and offer enticing promotions that are actually real scams. The second measure will allow creators to increase the strictness of comment moderation. Thus, comments marked as inappropriate will be added to the “pending” section. They can then be approved by the videographer within 60 days. Finally, YouTube is reducing the number of special characters that can be added to channel names. This is another important detail. car attackers subtly change the names of certain creators to better impersonate them. Our colleagues at Techradar give, in particular, example B, which can thus become Ḃ.
