Yemeni Information Minister Muammar Al-Eryani called on the international community, the United Nations and the UN envoy to put pressure on the Houthi militias to stop producing and planting all types of mines, provide minefield maps, and work to support the Yemeni government’s programs to clear Yemeni lands of mines, rehabilitate the wounded and reintegrate them into society.
Al-Waziz Muammar Al-Eryani said in a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that “Houthi militias have mined public and private facilities, houses, markets, main and secondary streets and farms without distinguishing between civilians and civilians.” military target, and tens of thousands of civilians were killed, most of them women, children and the elderly, who died or survived after having their limbs amputated.”
Al-Eryani noted that civilian casualties continued to fall almost daily as a result of mines that were randomly planted by Houthi militias in populated areas in various governorates of Yemen. Mines also prevent millions of people from returning to their homes. , villages and farms lead a normal life.
He noted that the Government of his country, within the framework of the National Landmine Control Program with the support of the United Nations Development Program and the Masam project to clear mines from Yemen, had made exceptional efforts to clear mines in the liberated areas, provide medical and psychological assistance to the victims , inform the local population about the dangers and how to deal with them.
