As the Houthis continue to violate all international laws and norms, the Yemeni government has called on the international community to classify the Houthi militia as a terrorist organization.
The Yemeni government believed that the Houthis’ acceptance of what it called systematic attacks on infrastructure inside Yemen, neighboring countries, and regional and international waters required a strong international stance, classifying the militia as a global terrorist organization.
The Government of Yemen has reaffirmed its commitment to a just and comprehensive peace approach in accordance with the recommendations agreed at the national, regional and international levels, and will continue to participate seriously and responsibly in all efforts aimed at alleviating the human suffering of the Yemeni people.
For its part, the European Union condemned the Houthi attacks on oil installations and infrastructure, warning of their catastrophic consequences for the humanitarian situation and maritime security.
In a statement, the Council of the European Union called on Houthi militias to abandon positions they consider extremist and engage constructively in the efforts of the UN envoy to Yemen to renew and expand the truce in the country.
Today, the UN Security Council is holding its monthly meeting on Yemen to review the evolution of the military, political and humanitarian situation, especially the activation of the UN truce, the renewal of which is still hesitant.
