Xbox boss Phil Spencer announces agreement to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation
Xbox boss Phil Spencer has confirmed that Microsoft and Sony have reached a binding agreement to ensure that the Call of Duty franchise will continue to be available on PlayStation, even after Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
Since the very start of this acquisition process, our commitment has been to address the concerns of regulators, platform and game developers, as well as consumers. Even after the deal is approved, our focus will remain on making sure that Call of Duty is accessible on more platforms and for more consumers than ever before.
In related news, it is currently unclear how long Call of Duty will continue to be available on PlayStation after the acquisition. However, this agreement guarantees that one of the biggest gaming franchises under the deal will stay on Sony formats.
Last week, Microsoft successfully won its court battle with the FTC in the US, freeing them to proceed with the purchase of Activision Blizzard.
