The emergency committee of the World Health Organization met today in Geneva to discuss and assess “monkeypox” and the need for a warning about it so that governments and individuals remain vigilant against the infection, as the number of infections reached 2,100 confirmed cases in 43 countries in this moment.
At the conclusion of its meetings, the committee should provide recommendations to the Director-General of the World Health Organization, interim recommendations on how best to prevent and reduce the spread of the disease, and actions for a global public health response.
