The Saudi Sport for All Federation has announced the organization of the second World Goal Championship, which will be held for the second time in Saudi Arabia.
The first international tournament was launched in 2015 and the purpose of the tournament is to encourage women aged 18 and over to participate in this initiative by forming sports teams to combine social events with sports programs, so the competition does not just include a sports competition, but each team, participating in the tournament must come up with a community initiative that highlights it and aims to achieve any of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in order to use the popularity and power of sporting events to implement community initiatives that improve the quality of life in local communities and enable residents to lead a healthy lifestyle AND play a leading role in enhancing the positive impact on society.
The winning teams will be determined based on a set of elements, including the number of goals scored during futsal matches, the level of audience engagement, the degree to which the teams’ uniforms match the theme of the initiative and the positive impact programs that were implemented prior to the start of the tournament.
Shaima Al Hussaini, Executive Director of the Saudi Sports Federation for All, stated that one of the goals of the tournament is to improve the quality of life, which is the most important program of the Kingdom Vision 2030, explaining that its goals are closely related to the federation’s vision of empowering and empowerment of women and demonstration of their role in public life.
It is noteworthy that the registration process in the program is available to women 18 years of age and older, and in order to register, female participants need to form a team of eight people, including one coach, choose a team name, choose one of the sustainable development goals to be adopted during the program , and register. Through the website specified by the Federation and once the registration process is completed, participants can exchange ideas with team members on how to use and invest in the Sustainable Development Goals for the benefit of society and start planning community action.
The sports federation urged the community that if the team is accepted, photos of the team members and names of the players, along with a summary of the team’s initiatives to achieve the sustainability goals, should be submitted to the tournament’s website. The team will then be asked to start planning and implementing community initiatives.
