“When you walk on this beach, you feel like you are part of a movie,” England-based photographer Alexis Blues told CNN in Arabic about Reynisfjara Beach in southern Iceland.
You can think of it as an ordinary beach like the rest of the beaches, which are characterized by turquoise waters and golden sand. However, this “deadly” beach has attracted the attention of many, especially photographers (see video above).
The beaches of Iceland are famous for their black sand, which was formed as a result of volcanic eruptions many years ago. As lava cools, it freezes and eventually turns into grains of sand.
Deadly Beach
One of the most famous is Reynisfjara Beach. However, it is still impossible to swim in it, according to the Reykjavik Tours website.
And why?
The tide can change within one second, causing the currents to drag anyone to shore.
Not only a strong current, but the water temperature is very low throughout the year.
Therefore, the experience of swimming in it will not be pleasant.
Fantasy movie lovers
Fans of The Game may know of Thrones on stunning basalt columns and black sand on Reynisfjara Beach in southern Iceland.
The beach has appeared in many films, most notably Vikings, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Star Trek: Retribution, and Noah.
Obviously, this is an attractive place for directors and producers of science fiction and fantasy series and films representing distant planets and imaginary worlds.
The photographer sought to trace the details of this wonderful place, from the mountain front to the rock formations and volcanic sandy beach.
The video was filmed by the Blues in the winter, namely in February 2022. The weather was perfect, luckily there was no rain at the time.
However, flying a drone in cold temperatures is usually difficult. Blues noted that the drone needs to “warm up” in order for its battery to function successfully.
The video was liked by many people around the world. Many were invited to visit it personally to enjoy this enchanting spectacle.
Blues has always been interested in photography ever since he got his first camera phone in 2005. In 2019, he decided to invest in a drone.
He was lucky enough to travel to the UK, Ireland, Croatia, USA, Iceland, Italy and Scandinavia to observe the world from the sky.
Although his work usually focuses on landscapes, he also likes to watch the movement of boats or surfers, for example.
