A video of US police violently tackle a black teenager in a shopping center fight with a young The white man sparked outrage, prompting the state’s governor to condemn what appeared to be “racially disparate treatment”.
The video – posted at the beginning of the week by the Storyful platform and selected up by ABC, CBS and CNN – shows a fight out between two teenagers in a mall in Bridgewater, New Jersey, a suburb of new York city.
After about 10 seconds, two policemen arrive and separate from force teens.
But while the black teenager is violently thrown on the floor by one policeman, the young the white man is simply made sit on a sofa.
A policeman is then seen putting son knee on the back of the young Black man while laying flat on son stomach, while the policeman handcuffs him.
“They tackled me to the ground, then the one – the officer posed son knee in my back then he starts putting me in handcuffs,” the black teenager, who gave son name as Kye, told ABC.
“And then the female officer came over and put son knee on my superior back too and started helping put on handcuffs on me.”
The video does not show the rest of the arrest of the black teenager nor what he became of the young White who was not arrested.
Police in Recognized Township of Bridgewater on Facebook that the video had”made members of our community upset” and promised an internal investigation.
