Angry demonstrations have continued in Iranian cities in recent hours, with reports on social media that security forces have fled and protesters have taken control of much of the Kurdish city of Ashnoe.
And local media reported that protesters set fire to the house of two members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in the city of Ashnoy, Azerbaijan Province, in northwestern Iran.
Several videos circulating on social media showed demonstrators in the town of Alvand in Qazvin in northern Iran blew up a security forces bus and completely took control of the streets of Tehran’s Nizamabad district, Iran International reported.
Photos were also circulated of the burning of the headquarters of the Basij forces in the Iranian city of Qom.
