VALORANT Mobile Enters Closed Beta Testing in China
It was only recently found out that a live beta test version of VALORANT Mobile is currently running in China and will continue until mid-August. On the other hand, there is a catch: it is a version being created just for China, much like the Chinese version of VALORANT that was recently made available in the country two weeks ago.
Restricted Access for Chinese Players
Players in China will now have restricted access to one of the first playable versions of VALORANT Mobile, regardless of the version they play. This access is available immediately. There is now work on a worldwide version that will be released everywhere but in China. However, despite ongoing development, it has been rumored that Riot Games is hesitant to release any versions until it is nearly perfect.
VALORANT’s Rise in Esports
When VALORANT was made available to the public in 2020, it immediately became an excellent alternative to the well-established and preeminent CSGO. It took only a short time until it established itself as a top-tier title in esports, with millions of fans flooding the game’s competitive scene and extremely popular tournaments being held worldwide in a very short time.
VALORANT Mobile Speculations
It has been well over a year since speculations of a VALORANT Mobile product first began to spread around the general public. Chinese gamers are getting their first look at what it would look like, at least according to Tencent’s interpretation.

Riot Games’ Silence on VALORANT Mobile
Riot Games has been relatively silent on the subject of VALORANT Mobile up until this point. This perspective was mirrored by Whalen Rozelle, the COO of Esports at Riot Games, in an interview with the Esports Inquirer:
I think people are really hungry for an update on VAL Mobile. We have not given one and we’re very consciously not giving an update right now because I think as soon as we do, players are going to start wanting to know when it’s going to launch and all that.
The Rise of Mobile Gaming
Given how convenient it is to play games on a mobile device, the popularity of mobile gaming continues to rise. A smartphone version of virtually every high-level competitive video game is currently available. If there aren’t any already, work is likely being done on creating them. Take, for example:
- Fortnite Mobile
- PUBG Mobile
- Rainbow Six Mobile (In development)
- Call of Duty Mobile
- Call of Duty Warzone Mobile (In development)
How long would it be before VALORANT Mobile was added to the list? We also hope the rumored VALORANT edition will be made available for consoles.
