Members of the UN Security Council welcomed the extension of the truce in Yemen to two months.
In today’s press statement, Council members expressed their appreciation for the steps taken by the parties to maintain the ceasefire, which have resulted in real and tangible benefits for the Yemeni people, including a significant reduction in civilian casualties.
They expressed their aspirations and hope that the truce could turn into a permanent ceasefire and a comprehensive and comprehensive political settlement under the auspices of the United Nations.
The members of the Security Council called on the Yemeni parties to continue to engage with the United Nations Special Envoy, to negotiate and communicate with each other in a spirit of mutual respect and reconciliation.
