Ukrainian football clubs have decided to end the season, suspended since the beginning of the Russian invasion of the country last February, without awarding the title to any team.
And the Ukrainian League announced in a statement that “the standings as of February 24, 2022 will be final in the 2021-2022 season, without a title winner.”
“The relevant decision has been submitted for approval to the Executive Committee of the Football Federation of Ukraine,” the ministry added.
Shakhtar Donetsk were leading the league, two points behind Dynamo Kyiv when the season was suspended.
Both clubs are likely to earn places in next season’s Champions League qualifying rounds.
The league was never finally restarted after the winter break, and President Volodymyr Zelensky soon imposed martial law in Ukraine after the Russian invasion began on February 24.
