Kemal Doğru doesn’t have a clue how it happened but his doctors think that the 64-year-the old man may have broken a record for the most kidney stones removed of son body.
Dogru, who Lives in the northern province of Turkey of Tokat, had requested treatment for a stomach ache about 40 days ago. After a first treatment in a public hospital, he was transferred to Gaziosmanpaşa University Hospital in Province. Doctors decided he needed gallbladder surgery. Their grand surprisingly, they discovered 14,387 kidney stones inside son body after an operation that took one and one half hours over three days. Rocks of all sizes were removed and carefully packaged as the doctors say he broke a new record. They plan to apply for the Guinness Book of Records after transport.
But maybe the old man didn’t break the world record car this title belongs to the Indian Dhanraj Wadile according to Guinness. Wadile had 172,155 kidney stones removed of son body in An operation in 2009. But Doğru probably broke the Turkish record which previously belonged to a patient of which 8,422 kidney stones were removed.
Dr. Vahit Mutlu, who exploited on Doğru, said he applied to the local branch of Guinness to certify record. Mutlu told Anadolu Agency (AA) on Monday they found an abnormal growth on the gallbladder patient but did not encounter any health problem at first. “We applied X-ray imaging and found high values in pancreatic enzymes, blood and liver. He also developed jaundice. After further examination, we found many of kidney stones,” he said.
Mutlu said the gallbladder was full of stones and they had trouble keeping it intact car it “overflowed” during the operation. He added that the patient has been in good healthy now and recovering in hospital.
For his part, Doğru said he didn’t expect to have so many kidney stones. “I do not know how they have accumulated there. I have no idea what caused this. I eat a lot of fruit but I don’t eat sure if this caused that,” he said.
Kidney stones are linked to multiple factors, from diet, such as consumption of high foods in protein, salt and sugar, dehydration and genetics history of the patient. Obesity is also linked to developing kidney stones along with digestive diseases and other medical conditions such as urinary tract infections.
