Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said that trilateral negotiations between the defense departments of Turkey, Russia and Syria will continue, as Ankara hopes for a “reasonable” continuation of the operation against our country and our people.
We have declared our determination to our interlocutors, and there can be no question of doing anything against our Syrian brothers, whether in Turkey or in Syria. Akar added: “You should not rely on unrealistic news and take other positions. Our negotiations will continue. We hope that the process will continue in a reasonable and logical way.”
According to him, the joint patrols of Turkey and Russia can be deployed in northern Syria, without specifying the details. On December 28, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the defense ministers of Russia, Syria and Turkey held tripartite talks in Moscow to discuss ways to resolve the Syrian crisis, and this is the first official meeting between Ankara and Damascus in 11 years.
