Some 440 people were killed during the first three months of this year in attacks launched by armed groups in the Jugo region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Congolese security authorities reported that they had recorded the kidnapping of 120 more people and the burning of about 700 houses during attacks by armed groups, which had led to the displacement of thousands of residents and the looting of residents’ property.
Authorities added that 72 militants were eliminated during this period.
