According to the Tabletops email distributed once per week by Michael Steber, the very first Apple store ever located at Tysons Corner Center will soon be relocating within the shopping mall. The shopping center is in Tysons, Virginia, a Washington, District of Columbia suburb.
According to Steeber, the following notice was written on a temporary wall at a new site in the shopping center:
Twenty-two years ago, the very first Apple Store opened its doors in Tysons Corner. We look forward to seeing you in this freshly redesigned area in a short while. We are grateful that you were a part of our narrative. Onward to the next part of the story!
The Apple store at the newly opened facility has yet to announce a date for its official opening, but it is still open. Apple leaves the reader with the ambiguous promise that “a new chapter is coming soon” on the webpage for the shop without providing any other information. According to the website for the shopping center, the new Apple store will be situated on the upper floor, between Victoria’s Secret and Nespresso.
Steve Jobs led a tour of Apple’s Tysons Corner location, unveiling the Genius Bar and other features in a film that has since become legendary. The retail establishment opened on May 19, 2001, just a few hours before the Apple Glendale Galleria in Glendale, California, welcomed its first customers. According to Apple, during the first weekend of operations, the two stores welcomed more than 7,700 customers and sold $599,000.
Steeber predicted that the launch of the new store would be a meaningful event:
This opening will be significant because it will be the first time that the very first Apple Store has ever relocated. Believe me when I say that this debut will involve much more than that. The beginning can be traced back to Tysons Corner.
The existing storefront underwent a remodel in the 2000s, which resulted in removing the store’s iconic black exterior, with two illuminated Apple logos on either side of the entrance.
