The British government welcomed the announcement by the UN envoy to Yemen to extend the truce period to two months.
“The UK welcomes the extension of the UN-brokered truce in Yemen and we are grateful to all parties for their continued flexibility,” UK Middle East Secretary Amanda Milling said today.
In the same context, a British official reaffirmed that dialogue is the only way to end the crisis in Yemen, saying: “A negotiated settlement is the only thing that can ease the suffering of the Yemeni people.”
It comes after UN envoy to Yemen Hans Grundberg announced that today the Yemeni government and the Houthi militia have agreed to extend the truce in Yemen for another two months, hours before it expires.
