In the midst of more than a year-long war of leaks and escalation of cyberattacks between Russia and the West, the Russian Federal Security Service launched a campaign of criticism of the US and NATO countries. NATO countries were accused of involvement in large-scale cyber attacks from the territory of Ukraine, the purpose of which was the vital infrastructure of Russia.
He also confirmed that he had received “data indicating that the territory of Ukraine is being used by the United States and NATO countries to conduct large-scale cyber attacks on civilian targets in Russia,” TASS reports.
He also accused the West of “exploiting the infrastructure in Ukraine through cyber operations units that covertly use new types of cyber weapons.”
He considered that Washington was disavowing its officials by pushing Kyiv forward, and promoting Ukrainian groups as the first and last actor, such as the IT Army of Ukraine, which carried out thousands of cyberattacks on Russian sources of information.
In addition, he stressed that at the same time, cyber attacks are being developed with the direct participation of the Pentagon Joint Command in cooperation with the Animus, Silence global groups, Just Clean local groups in the United States, Redkach in Turkey, GN.G in Georgia, and SQUAD in Poland.
According to the Russian security service, since the beginning of 2022, more than 5,000 hacker attacks on critical infrastructure have been recorded in Russia.
However, he stressed that timely measures prevented the negative consequences of those attacks on the country.
It is noteworthy that since the start of the Russian military operation on the territory of the western neighbor on February 24, the fears of the West, especially the European one, about the escalation of Russian cyber attacks on some vital areas in NATO member countries have escalated.
