The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia stressed that the development of the escalation and transnational terrorist threats carried out by terrorist groups and organizations around the world is one of the most important reasons that, more than ever, require a quick and comprehensive response from the international community.
This was stated in a speech delivered by the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations, Ambassador Dr. Abdulaziz Al Wasel, during a meeting (ARIA) held at the headquarters of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). ) on threats to international peace and security in connection with the activities of transnational terrorist groups: Al-Shabaab in Somalia” and “Misuse of unmanned aerial systems”.
At the beginning of the speech, Ambassador Al-Wazel confirmed that the Kingdom declares its rejection, condemnation and condemnation of all acts of terrorism.
He explained that the systematic and deliberate violations committed by the Houthi terrorist group against the territories of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the sister United Arab Emirates, as well as against shipping and international corridors, require the international community to take immediate and decisive action to stop these repeated actions, directed against civilians, vital and civilian objects, and ensure energy and global economic stability, obstruction of international shipping and prolongation of human suffering.
He drew attention to the fact that the Kingdom contributed to the stabilization and support of the current truce in Yemen, based on the desire of the leadership of the Kingdom to achieve security and stability in the Yemeni territories.
Al-Wazel said: “The violation by the Houthi terrorist militia of the arms embargo imposed on Yemen and their use of more than nine hundred unmanned aerial vehicles and more than four hundred and fifty ballistic missiles in the direction of the territory of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in addition to the threat to maritime navigation and international routes using more than one hundred boats, booby traps, two hundred and seventy sea mines and the use of over one hundred thousand indiscriminate projectiles, which confirms the blatant defiance of this group to the international community, and its disregard for all international laws and norms.
He added that the Houthis cannot build up their capacity and produce drones with modern and advanced technology, except with the support of Iran, and this has been proven and confirmed by the reports of the relevant committees and groups of the United Nations and Security. Advice.
And he pointed out that the description of terrorist organizations as an integral part of the country, which suffers from the crimes of these organizations against the civilian population, including children and infrastructure, certainly affects the human rights to stability, security, health, humanitarian access and the provision of education.
At the end of his speech, Ambassador Al-Wazel noted that there are many Security Council resolutions that focus on the stability of countries, and not on combating terrorist acts committed by individual components of these countries, and this leads to undermining stability and prolonging conflicts.
