Leaders stressed the importance of teamwork in achieving the desired goals of the Green Middle East Initiative, believing in the importance of its goals, which are achieved through the concerted efforts and active contributions of the countries of the region.
The Leaders reaffirmed that the second Green Middle East Initiative will accelerate the achievement of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and the prosperity of the peoples of the Member States.
The leaders stressed the importance of achieving climate and environmental goals, complying with relevant international conventions approved by the United Nations, which contributes to the achievement of the United Nations sustainable development goals for the period up to 2030 and the United Nations Decade of Recovery. ecosystems, as well as the determination to achieve integration and close coordination among Member States and to invest this in increasing their collective capacity to address climate change.
The assembled leaders reaffirmed the readiness of the participating States of the initiative to fulfill their promises and obligations under the Paris Agreement and take the necessary measures to limit the increase in global average temperature in accordance with the levels set by the Paris Agreement.
The leaders reaffirmed the importance of working to strengthen support for the implementation of the Paris Agreement and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals in a way that contributes to economic diversification and poverty eradication.
The leaders emphasized strengthening the integration of the optimal energy balance for electricity generation, supporting the absorption of electricity networks for the transition to renewable energy sources, and contributing to the achievement of climate change goals through the signing of memorandums and agreements on interconnection of electricity networks that have been signed with many countries. in regions such as Iraq, Egypt and Jordan, and what they will be Expanding cooperation in the electrical interconnection network with the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf.
The leaders reaffirmed their support for emission reduction efforts in the Middle East and beyond through the signing of bilateral and multilateral clean energy agreements and memorandums of understanding that will promote and expand cooperation on clean energy and clean energy technologies.
Leaders stressed the importance of collaborating to address and address greenhouse gas emissions issues through a holistic approach and the various clean technologies available, including the circular carbon economy approach and its four pillars, which provide an integrated and comprehensive framework that countries can learn from. benefits and their application in the development of action plans to combat climate change in accordance with the national priorities and conditions of each country.
The assembled leaders reaffirmed their focus on strengthening joint action to support efforts to develop and disseminate advanced carbon capture, storage and decarbonization technologies, in particular in the energy and emissions intensive sectors, while encouraging investment in this area to promote international efforts to address the issue of emissions.
The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to adopting an appropriate national approach to achieve an equitable transformation of a low-emission, climate-resilient development model based on proven scientific advice, accountability and agreed principles, with fairness and equity at the forefront and taking into account the national characteristics of each countries.
The leaders underlined the importance of joint international action on clean fuel solutions for food security, which contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals in general and the seventh goal in particular, which aims at universal access to reliable and sustainable energy. at the highest affordable price.
The leaders expressed their determination to continue working with friendly countries, regional and international organizations to ensure the achievement of the goals of the Green Middle East Summit and serve the interests of Member States and international partners.
The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to creating a better future for future generations, believing in the importance of the initiative’s commitment to the sustainable development of the region and the conservation and restoration of its biodiversity for the benefit of countries and peoples around the world. .
The Leaders reiterated the importance of attracting and providing the necessary funding for the Green Middle East Initiative, as well as for all technologies and solutions that contribute to addressing the issue of emissions through bilateral, regional and international mechanisms and coordination within these mechanisms. they welcomed the financial commitments provided by a number of articles and funds, especially the Islamic Development Bank and the OPEC Fund for International Development.
The leaders stressed that the implementation of the goals of the Green Middle East Initiative will contribute to the reduction and management of greenhouse gas emissions from all sources, including renewable energy and clean technologies for managing hydrocarbon emissions, as well as the elimination of millions of tons of carbon emissions through technical and natural solutions. .
The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to work towards the initiative’s goals of reducing land degradation, restoring vegetation, conserving biodiversity, adapting to and mitigating climate change to reduce economic losses, support sustainable development and achieve prosperity.
The leaders reaffirmed their determination to agree on enhanced cooperation and support to improve natural resource management and combat land degradation and desertification, and committed to working together to improve water and food security in the face of the negative impacts of climate change.
The leaders stressed the importance of cross-border cooperation in various areas, especially with regard to the management of resources vulnerable to climate change, in a way that strengthens the framework for joint action, whether on a bilateral, regional or collective basis.
The assembled leaders called on countries, organizations, relevant regional and international bodies, financial institutions and the private sector to provide financial and technical support to this initiative to enable it to achieve its ambitious goals at the national, regional and international levels.
