A Shura Council delegation led by His Excellency the Assistant Speaker of the Council, Dr. Hanan bint Abdul Rahim Al-Ahmadi, visited the Swedish Parliament during the delegation’s official visit to the Kingdom of Sweden. Upon arrival at Parliament, the delegation The delegation of the Shura Council was received by His Excellency First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Kenneth Forslund and His Excellency Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament Julia Conild.
The delegation then held a meeting with the Swedish Parliament’s Committee on Gender Equality, during which the parties discussed a number of issues of mutual interest between the two friendly countries, especially parliamentary relations, and reviewed the Kingdom’s efforts to empower women through their leadership positions and their active participation in various public and private sectors, as well as their contribution to the business sector, within the goals of the Kingdom Vision 2030.
The delegation of the Council also held a meeting with the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Swedish Parliament, headed by Aaron Emilson, which reviewed bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Kingdom of Sweden and ways to improve them, especially parliamentary relations between the Shura Council and the Parliament of Sweden. The meeting also confirmed the Kingdom’s innovative position on various regional and international issues, and discussed a number of issues of mutual interest between the two friendly countries.
As part of the visit of the Council delegation to the Kingdom of Sweden, the delegation met with the head of the delegation of the Swedish Parliament to the Inter-Parliamentary Union Arin Karapet and the deputy head of the delegation Serkan Kosi. The meeting touched upon bilateral parliamentary relations between the Shura Council and the Swedish Parliament. The meeting also stressed the importance of strengthening parliamentary relations through the exchange of parliamentary visits. The meeting also reviewed the Kingdom’s efforts to support peace, dialogue and stability in the region and the world, and discussed a number of issues of mutual interest.
The Council delegation also met with the Committee on Trade and Industry of the Swedish Parliament, chaired by the Vice-Chairman of the committee Elisabeth Ringqvist and in the presence of committee members Mats Green and Lili Anders, where they discussed the agenda items and considered aspects of investment and trade cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Sweden, especially in technical, technological and innovative aspects and start-ups. At the end of the visit, the Shura Council delegation visited the Swedish Parliament, where they got acquainted with the halls of the Parliament, and also took part in a part of the meeting held by the Swedish Parliament.
