The Supreme Committee on Delivery and Legacy announced on Monday that Lusail Stadium, the largest of the eight stadiums hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, will host the Lusail Super Cup match between the Saudi Arabian and Egyptian football leagues on September 9 next year.
Hassan Al Thawadi, Secretary General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, said: “This event represents the last stop on our journey to launch the championship competition on November 21st and this beautiful sports venue is considered a gem. World Cup stadiums.
Among the eight stadiums set to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Lusail Stadium is the only one that has yet to host a single match.
Qatar will host a unique winter version of the World Cup for the first time in the Middle East, from November 21 to December 18, 2022.
Lusail Stadium has a capacity of 80,000 spectators and will host the final match. Lusail Stadium, located 16 km from the center of Doha, will host 10 matches before the expected semi-final and final.
