The Road to Mecca Initiative
The Ministry of the Interior, under the Pilgrim Service Program, launched the Road to Mecca initiative as part of the Saudi Arabia Vision 2030 programs. The initiative includes a pilgrimage coding and sorting service at airports to ensure that pilgrims reach their residences in Mecca Al-Mukarrama and Al-Medina Al-Munawara with ease.
The Coding Process
The coding process is carried out by a specialized team under the supervision of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. It begins in the hall dedicated to the Path of Mecca Initiative at Kuala Lumpur International Airport where luggage is sorted and stowed. The team places a sticker on the luggage of the pilgrims of the Holy House of God, containing flight data and information about the pilgrims and their places of residence. A sticker is also placed on the cover of the pilgrim’s passport, and a card is issued to indicate the same information written on their luggage.
Upon Arrival
Upon arrival at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah and Prince Muhammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Medina, pilgrims transfer directly to buses that take them to their residences in Mecca and Medina along designated routes. Courier services deliver their luggage to their place of residence in accordance with the transport and housing conditions in the Kingdom.
The Aim
The coding service aims to ensure that the luggage reaches the place of residence of each pilgrim. It also simplifies and facilitates the procedures for the travel of Rahman’s guests from the airports of their countries.
