As part of the desire and interest, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia gives everything that serves the interests of our Arab nation and advances the interests of its countries and peoples, and at the invitation of His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as in consultations and efforts to harmonize positions and unite efforts on a number of issues of mutual interest, an informal consultation meeting was held in the city of Jeddah on 23 Ramadan. 1444 AH, at the Suhoor table hosted by His Highness the Minister for Foreign Affairs, with the participation of Their Highnesses and Excellencies, the Foreign Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Arab Republic of Egypt. , and the Republic of Iraq.
During the meeting, views were exchanged on a number of issues and developments in the region, and the ministers stressed the centrality and priority of the Palestinian cause and condemned Israel’s illegal actions that undermine the two-state solution and the chances of achieving a just and comprehensive peace based on a two-state solution. states that embodies an independent and sovereign Palestinian state with a capital. East Jerusalem is on the borders of June 4, 1967 AD, and in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy and the Arab World Initiative. They also condemned the Israeli attacks on the blessed Al-Aqsa/Al-Haram al-Sharif Mosque and the violation of the sanctity of the holy places, and stressed the need to respect their historical and legal situation, and that the blessed Al-Aqsa/Al-Haram ash Mosque -Sharif is a pure place of worship for Muslims, and that manages the affairs of the Jerusalem Foundation and the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The Jordanian entity is vested with exclusive jurisdiction to manage the affairs of the mosque and regulate access to it under the historic Hashemite custodianship of Islamic and Christian shrines in Jerusalem.
They also held consultations and exchanged views on the efforts made to reach a political solution to the Syrian crisis that will end all its consequences and preserve the unity, security, stability and Arab identity of Syria, and return it to its Arab environment in a way that achieves the good his brotherly people.
The Ministers agreed on the importance of resolving the humanitarian crisis, creating the right conditions for the delivery of aid to all regions of Syria, creating the necessary conditions for the return of Syrian refugees and displaced persons to their areas, ending their suffering, enabling them to return safely to their homeland, and taking additional measures which would contribute to the stabilization of the situation in the country throughout the Syrian territory.
The ministers stressed the importance of fighting terrorism in all its forms and organizations, combating smuggling and drug trafficking, as well as the importance of maintaining Syrian sovereignty over its lands by state institutions in order to stop the presence of armed groups there and external interference in Syria’s internal affairs.
The ministers also stressed that a political solution is the only solution to the Syrian crisis and the importance of Arab countries playing a leading role in efforts to end the crisis, creating the necessary mechanisms for this role and intensifying consultations among Arab countries to ensure the success of these efforts.
The Ministers expressed their appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its initiative to convene this consultative meeting to discuss the efforts made to resolve the Syrian crisis and their willingness to continue consultations between them to continue these efforts.
