Square Enix Announces Final Fantasy 14 Dawntrail Expansion
Square Enix has announced Dawntrail, the fifth expansion of Final Fantasy 14, set to be released in summer 2024. The popular MMO game’s producer and director, Naoki Yoshida, unveiled this exciting expansion at the 2023 Fan Festival in Las Vegas. During the event, Yoshida also treated fans to a teaser trailer, providing a glimpse of the Warrior of Light’s adventures in the new world of Tural. Additionally, it has been confirmed that Final Fantasy 14 will be available on Xbox Series X|S.
New and Exciting Content
The upcoming expansion will offer a plethora of fresh content, including an increased level cap, new jobs, new areas, new allied tribes, new dungeons, and new battle features such as FATE, hunts, treasure hunts, side quests, and more.
Here is a list of some of the featured content:
- Visit the new world of Tural and its capital, Tuliyollal;
- Explore new areas, such as the mountains of Urqopacha and the forest of Yak T’el;
- Encounter new allied tribes like the tiny Pelupelu, known for their unique masks, who reside in the region of Urqopacha;
- Increase the level cap from 90 to 100;
- Introduce various new jobs;
- Battle content: FATE, hunts, treasure hunts, and side quests;
- New dungeons;
- New threats, including Valigarmanda;
- Updates to Duty Support;
- New equipment and recipes;
- Expansion of casual content;
- New Variant Dungeons, Alliance Raids, 8-player Raids, and Ultimate Raids;
- PvP updates;
- Updates for existing content, such as Blue Mage updates, Inconceivably Further Hildibrand Adventure, new plans for Deep Dungeons, and a Gold Saucer update.
Gorgeous Visual Enhancements
Alongside these additions, the Dawntrail expansion of Final Fantasy 14 will also bring the first graphical update to the game, enhancing both character and world visuals. The improvements include:
- Enhancements to the game’s aesthetics;
- Higher-resolution textures and shadows;
- Improved material quality.
Expanded Free Trial and Exciting Collaboration
In addition to the above, Square Enix has announced that the existing free trial of the game will be expanded further with patch 6.5. Upon release, the “Even Further Expanded Free Trial” will include all Stormblood content (up to patch 4.58), including the Red Mage and Samurai jobs. This expanded trial will allow new players to progress up to level 70 without any time restrictions.
Lastly, Naoki Yoshida announced a collaboration with Fall Guys. The “Warriors of Light Fame pass” will be available on Fall Guys on August 22, 2023, while a new Gold Saucer attraction based on Fall Guys will be added to FINAL FANTASY XIV Online in the 6.5x series of patches.
