Spain became champions of the third edition of the UEFA Nations League by beating Croatia 5-4 on penalties in the final match in Rotterdam on Sunday.

Goalless Draw Leads to Shoot-Out

Time and extra time ended in a goalless draw between the two teams to decide the shoot-out as Spain goalkeeper Unai Simon shone by blocking two penalties to give La Roja their first league title.

First Title for Spain Since 2012

This is the first title for Spain in general since winning the European Cup in 2012.

Previous Winners

The first edition of the European Nations League was won by Portugal at the expense of the Netherlands 1–0 in the 2018-2019 season, while France defeated Spain 2–1 in the second edition of 2020-2021 season.
