Sony Announces Custom PS5 Console and DualSense Limited Edition of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Sony Interactive Entertainment has just announced the upcoming release of the PS5 console and the DualSense Limited Edition of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Both of these products will feature a custom design in the Spider-Man theme and will be available for purchase starting September 1, 2023. Additionally, a PlayStation 5 bundle will also be available.

Exciting Venom Presence

After unveiling a new Venom story trailer, Sony revealed these two products that showcase the massive and sinister symbiote presence. This should come as no surprise, considering Venom will be one of the most formidable challenges the two superheroes will face in the game.

Custom Design

The custom skin of the PS5 shows the symbiote’s tentacles aggressively approaching the Spider-Man icon, appearing as if they are about to consume the last remaining red shard. The DualSense wireless controller has a similar design.

Statements from Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Senior Art Director

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Senior Art Director Jacinda Chu commented on the announcements, stating, “The design was inspired by the in-game symbiote that takes control of the console and controller, but you can still see some of the main red tendrils. This represents the various ways players will experience symbiote capture in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. It’s a constant push and pull for dominance, both internal and external, and the outcome is unclear.”

Release Information

Both the custom PS5 console and the DualSense Limited Edition will be available for purchase on September 1, before the official release of the game. Players who buy the PS5 Bundle will receive an in-game voucher that can be used when Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launches on October 20th. Additionally, special PlayStation 5 skins dedicated to the game will be available for separate purchase.
