Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Hussein Ibrahim Taha met today in Mecca Al-Mukarrama with the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif, who is on an official visit to the Kingdom.
Discussions during this meeting were devoted to the situation in the Islamic world and issues on the agenda of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which include, in particular, the situation in Palestine, Afghanistan, Jammu and Kashmir, as well as the issue related to the phenomenon of Islamophobia. During the meeting, the issue of cooperation between the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, which chairs the current forty-eighth session of the Organization’s Council of Foreign Ministers, was also touched upon.
The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation confirmed the readiness of the organization to support the government of Pakistan in the implementation of the decisions of the forty-eighth session of the Council, which was held in Islamabad on March 22-23, 2022.
For his part, the Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the Secretary General for his support and assistance, emphasizing Pakistan’s interest in efforts to promote joint Islamic action.
