The Ministry of Sports, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, launched the Girls’ School Football League project in various provinces and cities of the Kingdom on October 2 this year as part of the development of the women’s football system to create a generation that succeeds and builds a bright future for women’s football in the Kingdom.
The Women’s Football Department of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation is overseeing this project as the tournament will run until December 15th, when the winning team will be determined in the final.
There were a huge number of female students and education officials attending the registration, with 48,324 players representing 4,768 teams from 1,906 schools, and matches being played on the playgrounds of 63 public schools.
In addition, 3,793 female coaches have been appointed to train participating teams, and 413 female judges out of 544 applicants have completed qualification “arbitration” courses, and work is underway to activate courses for women coaches and women judges in the coming months.
