3 women from Saudi Arabia took part in the ProAm competition on the fields of the London Aramco Team Championship presented by the Public Investment Fund, which started today Thursday at the Centurion Club stadium and will last until Saturday, June 18, where they managed a third place, led by a Scot Joanna Gustafson.
Yesterday was the ProAm competition, which was attended by a group of professional players and a group of amateurs. Gustafson’s team featured Khanin Anbarsari, Ragda Al-Issawi and Laila Al-Telmisani who finished in third place with 26 points under par.
Gustafson, who has taken part in several tournaments in the Kingdom, expressed her joy at having the experience again and helping to spread golf in the Kingdom and around the world, and said: “I really enjoyed this tour and had a great day. full of funny situations and great moments.
This is the first time I’m on the women’s team in an Aramco Teams ProAm competition.
I’ve seen a lot of great shots from Saudi women players, although there are some who have just started playing golf, which is amazing.
I hope they have learned something from me and that the advice I have given them has been helpful and I am looking forward to new Saudi female golfers.”
For her part, Khanin Anbarsari, a Saudi Arabian golf player, said: “The overall experience was very special, I enjoyed the tour, the great atmosphere and playing with my team members.
It’s nice to be among new faces and make local connections. I asked a lot of questions to Joanna Gottsavsson to get the most out of this experience, her way of playing and her vision of the field are absolutely inspiring.”
While Ragda Al-Issawi, who played alongside her 18-year-old daughter Leila Al-Telmisani, said: “The future of golf in the Kingdom is very promising and nothing is impossible when we can reach the world with great ambition. and hard work. Al-Issawi added: “I try to stay away from being a mother while we play golf and play as friends on the court so we can fully focus on the game. We had a great time and learned a lot of things that will help us in the future .”
Both Saudi Golf and Aramco continue to strengthen the Kingdom’s presence on the global sports scene by hosting major events and providing opportunities for the Kingdom’s top talent pool of golfers to compete in tournaments such as the Aramco Series for teams across multiple destinations around the world.
It is worth noting that this year the Aramco team championship series started from the Thai capital of Bangkok from May 12 to 14, in which the team of Australian tennis player Whitney Heller won the team title, and Belgian Manon de Rooy managed to get an individual title.
And the English capital London hosts the second World Series, and from there to Sotogrande in the south of Spain, then to New York in the United States of America and, finally, on the Red Sea coast in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
This tournament will feature English golf stars Georgia Hall, Bronte Lowe and Charlie Hall, as well as Norwegian golfers Marianne Scarnord, who won the singles title at last year’s Aramco Team Championships in London, and Germany’s Olivia. Kaun, leader of the winning team in the same issue.
