Paris Saint-Germain head coach Christophe Galtier announced on Friday that Lionel Messi will miss Saint-Germain’s next Saturday match in French Ligue 1 against Reims due to a calf injury.
Galtier added at a press conference on Friday: “He asked to be substituted (in the Champions League match against Benfica last Wednesday). He has a slight problem with his calves, but he will return to training on Sunday.
There are other injuries in the ranks of the Parisian club as defender Nuno Mendez has been out for three weeks with a muscle injury and Kylian Mbappé is suffering from a throat infection.
Galtier said he expects France’s Mbappé to join the team and ride with the team, although he could be on the bench to give 20-year-old Hugo Iketiko a second chance to start from the beginning.
