Reports in the British press on Sunday reported that Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo received a huge bounty from his club Manchester United and then asked to leave the team.
According to The Sun, the 37-year-old striker received a six-figure bonus, and this is what he knew before he confirmed his intention to leave the team this summer.
The Sun explained that the award received by the Portugal captain has nothing to do with Ronaldo’s succession in the team, but rather with image rights and payments for achieving some goals last season, and that the amount is closer to 900,000 euros.
The newspaper added: According to sources close to the club, Ronaldo’s behavior did not please the management and that the timing of the request to leave was inopportune.
Earlier reports have indicated that Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain want to include the Portuguese striker during the current summer transfers, especially that the former Real Madrid and Juventus player wants to leave Manchester United after the team failed to qualify for the Champions League the following season.
