The Sports Track Foundation has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Saudi Arabian Cycling Federation to expand opportunities for cooperation in the field of cycling, event support, racing and community sporting events, and to share experiences and information in a way that will help achieve the intended impact of the project. .
Both parties were represented at the time of the signing by Sports Track Corporation CEO Jane McGovern and Saudi Cycling Federation Vice President Asma Al Jasser.
McGovern explained that the memorandum is an important step in line with the project’s direction and ambitious goals to effectively promote a better quality of life through the promotion of various sports and the transition to a healthy lifestyle, noting that bicycles are one of the main components. sports activities of the project; It includes more than 85 km of safe, well-maintained trails for amateur riders and another trail for professionals with a length of more than 135 km.
For her part, Al-Jasser noted the cooperation with the Sports Track Foundation, which promotes the principles and values of cycling, and spreads the culture of cycling in society. The reason is to encourage sports and provide opportunities for professional riders to compete. both locally and internationally.
The Vice President of the Saudi Arabian Cycling Federation reaffirmed the Federation’s commitment to provide everything that contributes to the support of the Sports Track Fund as part of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two parties, including providing the necessary knowledge and experience to support the project’s vision of encouraging an active lifestyle and improving the quality of life in in line with the objectives of the Kingdom Vision 2030.
Notably, the Sports Track project is one of four major projects in the city of Riyadh launched by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz on 12 Rajab 1440 AH, corresponding to March 19, 2019.
The project is located on the Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Road, which is over 135 km long and connects Wadi Hanifa in the west of the city and Wadi Al-Sulei in the east through a network of safe and wooded trails for walkers, cyclists, athletes and horse riders The project includes 4.4 million m of open green spaces, up to 50 sites for various sports and artistic monuments throughout the territory, as well as several unique sites and investment sites, with a total area of more than 2.3 million square meters.
