A Japanese police investigation has revealed new details about the weapons used in the assassination of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
Police at the home of Tetsuya Yamagami, who is accused of killing Abe, have confiscated homemade weapons and tools used to make weapons.
According to a report in the British Daily Mail newspaper, Japanese police confiscated a 9-barrelled shotgun from Yamagami’s home, which is controlled remotely using a mobile phone.
Police said Abe was killed with a homemade weapon made from parts Yamagami bought online.
The investigation revealed that Yamagami considered killing Abe with bombs before changing his mind and resorting to weapons he made himself.
Yamagami said during the investigation that he produced weapons with steel tubes, which he combined into multi-barreled guns.
