Recreating the Earth in Minecraft: An Impressive Achievement in Survival Mode
Recreating our planet in Minecraft is not a new concept. However, one player took on this monumental task and accomplished it in Survival mode, making it even more impressive!
Recreating the Earth in Survival Mode in Less Than a Month and a Half
In the Minecraft community, there are some projects that leave players in awe. FoundInMN, a determined player, took on the colossal challenge of recreating the Earth in Survival mode. However, it is important to note that this is a planisphere and not a spherical (or cubic) planet, considering we are in Minecraft. After 40 days of relentless effort, FoundInMN managed to create an astonishing version of the Earth’s continents with an incredible level of detail. In a YouTube video, FoundInMN showcased this extraordinary achievement, mentioning that the scale of the project was 1:23,000. Six out of the seven continents were meticulously reproduced, with the exception of Antarctica (due to the difficulty of representing its elongated shape on a planisphere, as it “touches” the edges of the map). To add a touch of realism, the creator used blocks of different colors, added numerous small islands, and even included flags representing different countries. The result is simply spectacular and has generated a lot of excitement on social media.
Survival Mode Challenges: Resource Gathering, Managing Hostile Mobs, and Sleep
The creation process was not without obstacles, as shown in FoundInMN’s detailed step-by-step video. It was necessary to establish farms to obtain the necessary resources and set up switches to prevent hostile mobs from spawning. One of the biggest challenges was the constant need to sleep through the night. Additionally, finding the optimal method to create land masses proved to be tricky. Eventually, the creator discovered that adding blocks color by color was the fastest method, especially with the help of a mod that highlighted certain blocks. The final results were shared on and .
A Massive Solo Project Unlike “Build the Earth”
FoundInMN used the Litematica mod to successfully recreate the Earth. This tool allowed the player to overlay an image of the Earth’s surface and obtain instructions on which blocks to use and where to place them. This was crucial in ensuring the accuracy and fidelity of the project, although minor imperfections were noted, highlighting the complexity of achieving a perfect replica. Nevertheless, the Minecraft community unanimously applauded this exemplary achievement, which inspired many. Some even mentioned the “Build the Earth” project, which aims to create a 1:1 replica of our planet and involves over 14,000 players. However, despite starting in 2020, the project is still far from completion due to its colossal scale.
Minecraft is now available on major gaming platforms.
