Australian actress Rebel Wilson came from son countries in London to present the best director trophy at the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) two years ago.
His humorous speech, which referred to a lack of women appointed in the category and lamented that box office flop “Cats” was entirely ignored, was one of the funniest moments of the night.
Now Wilson is heading back at BAFTA where she was invited to host the ceremony on Sunday at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
“I’m very pumped, very pumped for Sunday for the BAFTAs, but definitely…pretty nervous because like it’s a live event and son just like it’s a one and situation over”, she says.
“Even though I thought of jokes and everything, I never really said them out loud to everyone… So we’ll say, fingers crossed.
And these jokes will certainly be detrimental of the star-public scattered, though in A love way.
“It is traditional to make a few jokes about people. And they’re pretty popular with people, which is why they’re there and have been invited to the BAFTAs,” she explains.
“At the end of the day, like I like them, and I like the movies they have made,” she says. “But yeah me, as a host, you have to be nice of make a couple of jokes as well as.”
Wilson avoids the popular practice of have several costume changes because she wants to concentrate on what happens during the ceremony. There will be one special red carpet look before wearing a Miu Miu dress for his appearances on stage.
‘Dune’ tops BAFTA nominations with 11, “Power of the dog” has eight and “Belfast” is in the race for six.
Shirley Bassey will open the show with a James Bond theme as part of the celebration of 60th anniversary of 007.
Emilia Jones will sing a version of Joni Mitchell’s ‘Both Sides Now’ alongside signed performers – a nod to nominee ‘CODA’ movie and one of Wilson’s favorites this awards season.
As for if son tower in “Cats” will be referenced againWilson jokes that she holds out hope for follow-up movies.
“Everyone will want to be in the sequel to ‘Cats’, that’s it. Maybe I should use the BAFTAs like just a casting call for ‘Cats 2.'”
