Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that a quadripartite meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Turkey, Russia, Syria and Iran will be held in early May in Moscow.
Cavusoglu said: “Earlier, the Deputy Foreign Minister worked on the issue of organizing a meeting at the level of foreign ministers. Last week we discussed this issue with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Currently, such a meeting is scheduled for early May in Moscow.”
He indicated that the leaders’ meeting would be included in the agenda of the quadripartite foreign ministers’ meeting on Syria.
He added: “The purpose of the quadripartite meetings is to normalize and revive the settlement mechanisms in Syria, especially the “Astana” formula. Previous steps have been taken, but no results have been achieved. In addition, the meetings have a roadmap for holding the Leadership Meeting. Prospects and preparations for such negotiations will be discussed in Moscow in May.”
