Ticket sales for the tournament are approaching three million before the prestigious event kicks off on November 20, Gianni Infantino, president of FIFA and World Cup organizers, said on Monday.
Speaking at a press conference in Doha, Colin Smith, chief operations officer for the World Cup, said that Qatar, the United States and Saudi Arabia have the most tickets for the tournament, with 2.89 million tickets sold so far.
Speaking at a press conference in a recorded video, Infantino said 240,000 hospitality packages have been sold for the month-long tournament, which is being held for the first time in the Middle East.
Qatar is preparing to receive about 1.2 million visitors during the World Cup.
The Japanese team will be the first to enter the tournament on November 7th.
