Russian presidential envoy for Syria Alexander Lavrentiev said that Moscow is now working on organizing a meeting between Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The Turkish President had previously announced the possibility of a meeting with his Syrian counterpart, after which journalist Abdelkader Selfi, who is close to government agencies, wrote in the Turkish newspaper Hurriet that the meeting of the two presidents could take place in Russia through the mediation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to Lavrentiev, the possibility of holding a meeting between the two presidents “was always present,” and Moscow supports this, and the presidential envoy continued in an interview with Al-Arabiya TV channel: “I repeat that Turkey should consider this (meeting), since we believe that such The meeting will be positive and generally useful, and we are working in this direction.
