According to the Producer, Various Options for Final Fantasy 16 DLC Are Being Explored
During an interview with GamerBraves, the producer Naoki Yoshida was questioned if the firm had any downloadable content (DLC) plans, and he responded that they did.
Primary Objective: Creating a Complete Story
Yoshida stated that the primary objective of the development team was to deliver an experience that could stand on its own without the requirement of further downloadable content. Having done so, he is, however, aware of the need from fans for extra content to be released.
“As you are aware, going into Final Fantasy 16, the one thing we wanted was to create a full complete story, something that you can enjoy from beginning to end 100% without any DLC, and I think we were able to do that,” he stated. “As you know, going into Final Fantasy 16, we wanted to create a complete story.”
“But now that we have played the game, we understand that we are getting feedback from gamers, and many players want to see more, and we know that and understand that they want to see more.
“As for us, we are considering that before considering our options for moving forward, and we hope that in the not-too-distant future, we will be able to offer you all something.”
Sales Success of Final Fantasy 16
According to the game’s publisher, Square Enix, the exclusive PlayStation 5 version of Final Fantasy 16 sold three million copies in the first week after its release in June.
The number indicates that it is comparable to the debut of Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Following its release in April 2020, the PS4 video game sold approximately 3.5 million copies within the first week after its launch.
Final Fantasy 15, released for PS4 and Xbox One in 2016, had five million units delivered and sold digitally on its first day, making it the entry in the long-running series that sold the most copies in the shortest time.
