The work of the Preparatory Meeting of Senior Officers for the Fifth Session of the Islamic Conference of Ministers of Youth and Sports in the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) under the slogan “Development of youth and sports to build a solidarity nation”, which will be hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Jeddah from 7 to September 9, 2022, launched today.
A ministerial meeting is scheduled for tomorrow chaired by HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal, Minister of Sports, and HE Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Hussein Ibrahim Taha will deliver a speech highlighting the efforts of the organization and the highest priority for youth and sports issues, and the importance of enhancing their participation in the development of their societies.
At the opening of the preparatory meeting, the representative of the Republic of Azerbaijan, chairman of the fourth session of the Islamic Youth Conference and ministers of sports Ali Kadyrov, Deputy Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs of the Ministry of Sports of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, President of the fifth session of the Conference Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al-Masad and Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs made presentations on culture and family in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Ambassador Tariq Ali Bakhit.
In a speech by the General Secretariat, Ambassador Tariq Bakhit noted that the hosting of this session by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, following the first and second sessions of the conference in 2005 and 2014, confirms its interest in supporting the activities of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, as well as its interest in youth development and sports in States -members, emphasizing at the time that the convening of this session at a time when the world began to recover from the coronavirus pandemic, testifies to the organization’s commitment to supporting youth and sports in the Member States and its efforts to support cultural pluralism, dialogue between cultures and civilizations and dissemination of Islamic values through sports.
He added that the meeting provided an opportunity to discuss issues related to the development of youth and sports in order to build a nation based on solidarity and to discuss the problems that hinder youth capacity building and the development of sports in Member States, as well as to formulate ways to propose solutions and appropriate mechanisms to enhance cooperation among Member States in this area.
He expressed the gratitude of the General Secretariat to all institutions of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation actively working in the field of youth and sports, especially the Islamic Development Bank, the World Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), the Women’s Development Organization. , Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Center for Islamic Countries (SESRIC), Islamic Trade Development Center, Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation, Islamic Youth Cooperation Forum and the World Federation of Muslim Scouts for their efforts in youth development and sports in member states and their efforts to implement the decisions taken at the previous sessions of the Ministerial Conference on Youth and Sports.
The meeting will discuss the situation of youth in the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, as well as the importance that the Organization and its relevant bodies and institutions attach to the development of youth and sports, as well as work to empower youth and enhance their role. in development; To ensure conditions for stability, progress and prosperity, to combat extremist and violent ideas called for by terrorist organizations, and to promote dialogue, moderation, moderation, tolerance and respect for others. The meeting will also discuss the commitment of member states to the implementation of the organization’s guiding strategies for youth and sports development to promote joint Islamic action in the field of youth and sports.
