Anker recently disclosed that it voluntarily recalled its 535 Power Bank (PowerCore 20K) as an overheating problem that could endanger fire and human safety.
Retailing at $110, the 535 Power Bank offers a 19,200mAh capacity and charging speeds of up to 60W. Anker promoted it for laptop computers. The recalled product has model number A1366 printed on the bottom of the battery.
Anker collaborates with regional governmental organizations to ensure a secure recall procedure. It requests that everyone who owns an Anker 535 Power Bank put it away at a facility that accepts lithium batteries and cease using it.
Anker claims that just a few devices are impacted. Last week, the “most probable cause” of a house fire in Maryland was one of the 535 Power Banks. The Power Bank used the week before was in the luggage when the fire started. No further electrical items in the bag could have sparked a fire.
After disposal, customers who bought one of the power banks can request a refund through the Anker website. It will be necessary to provide an order number and proof of purchase.
