The Palestinian Warning of Israeli Occupation Plans
The Palestinian authorities have issued a warning about Israeli occupation plans to seize approximately half a million dunums of West Bank land. The Palestinians classify this land as natural reserves, which make up about 10% of the West Bank’s area. The Israeli occupation plans to seize this land for what is called Israeli territory sovereignty. Additionally, they plan to take over approximately 38% of the West Bank’s area.
The Occupation’s Moves to Annex the West Bank
The Israeli occupying forces have expropriated this land from the Palestinians under the name of “public lands.” This is part of the occupation’s moves to gradually annex the West Bank. They aim to seize 60% of the West Bank to prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state on all 1967 borders.
The Existence of 120 Natural Reserves
The National Bureau report indicates that along the West Bank, there are 120 natural reserves located in the ring of the annexation process. The largest of these reserves is the “Auzha Reserve” in Jericho, covering an area of about 22 thousand dunums. The Israeli occupation turned it into a closed military zone last year, drawing attention to the accelerating moves of the occupation to perpetuate the settlements.
The Expansion of Settlements
The Israeli occupation aims to expand the settlements, especially in Jerusalem, by flooding them with thousands of settlement units. This is in order to completely separate them from the West Bank. The Palestinians fear that this will make it impossible to establish a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
