Yesterday, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said that within the next few days the Palestinian Authority will apply to the United Nations with a request to grant Palestine full membership in the United Nations. Mahmoud Abbas confirmed that he would go to the United Nations and its bodies, including the Security Council, to demand a resolution affirming the defense of the two-state solution by granting Palestine full UN membership.
Abbas said during his speech at the Jerusalem Conference held at the Arab League in Cairo: “In the next few days, we will go to the UN and its various bodies, including the UN Security Council, to demand a resolution. reaffirming the defense of the two-state solution, granting the State of Palestine full membership in the United Nations.”
The Palestinian President added that the decision should confirm “the cessation of unilateral actions, primarily settlement activities, which are null and void, adherence to signed agreements and decisions that have international legitimacy, and the call for an international peace conference.”
Mahmoud Abbas stressed that the State of Palestine reserves the right, but will continue to apply to the courts and international organizations to protect the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
It is noteworthy that a conference in support of Jerusalem was held yesterday in Cairo at the headquarters of the League of Arab States with the participation of high-level Arab, regional and international representatives.
