The Saudi Arabia Yoga Committee Celebrates International Day of Yoga
The Saudi Arabia Yoga Committee celebrated the International Day of Yoga, which falls on June 21 this year, with the participation of over 10,000 participants from all over the Kingdom and from different ages, groups, and walks of life. Al Munawwara, Asir, Al Baha, and the Eastern region, as well as ten cities in the Kingdom, in addition to 4 universities, have hosted events and events.
A Massive and Different Celebration
The head of the Saudi yoga committee, Nouf Al-Maroui, explained that this year’s celebration was massive and different from previous years, including events that drew more than 10,000 people. She said, “During the celebration, everyone enjoyed doing yoga, including people with disabilities, and exercises were chosen that are easy for everyone to do, especially mental clarity exercises.”
Champions Honored
She added: “The celebration included honoring the yoga team champions for winning five medals (one gold, 3 silver medals, and a bronze medal) in the 2nd Everest International Yoga Championships, and this is a great international achievement in the first participation of the Saudi Arabian Yoga Team.”
Efforts to Spread Yoga
Al-Marui pointed out that the Saudi Arabian Yoga Committee is making unremitting efforts to introduce the sport and spread it to society, having activated it in 10 cities in 6 regions with twenty-two events in just 6 days, and attending more than ten thousand participants. which is surprising and shows that the widespread practice of yoga in the Kingdom reflects the great efforts of the Yoga Committee.
Yoga for Sports Champions with Disabilities
It is worth noting that the Saudi Arabian Olympic Training Center hosted an International Day of Yoga celebration organized by a committee during which Coach Nevin led a yoga class for sports champions with disabilities and was attended by 60 players, some of whom were from the Saudi National basketball team with disabilities.
The Saudi Arabia Yoga Committee’s efforts to introduce yoga to the Kingdom and spread it to society have been fruitful, as seen in the massive celebration of International Day of Yoga. The inclusion of people with disabilities in the celebration is a testament to the Committee’s commitment to making yoga accessible to all. The honors received by the Saudi Arabian Yoga Team in the Everest International Yoga Championships are proof that the Committee’s efforts are paying off, and it is hoped that yoga will continue to grow in popularity in the Kingdom and beyond.
