The Supreme Organizing Committee of the Riyadh 2023 World Martial Arts Games announced today, Friday, that the period from October 22 to November 2, 2023 AD will be set as the date for the establishment of the Riyadh International Games.
His Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal, President of the Saudi Arabian Olympic and Paralympic Committee, and Mr. Ivo Ferran, President of the Association of International Federations (GAISF), have signed a contract to host the Games in Riyadh in April.
Al Faisal said that the Kingdom and Riyadh in particular are organizing a global tournament with a high level of skill and professionalism in accordance with the highest international sports standards, which was the result of the generous and unrestricted support from the Government of the Custodian of the two holy mosques to King Salman bin Abdel Aziz – may God protect him – and His Highness and the Crown Prince, His Highness Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz – may God protect him – for the sports sector in the Kingdom.
Notably, the Kingdom won host of the Games during the twenty-fourth General Assembly of the Saudi Arabian Olympic and Paralympic Committee, which was held in May 2021 AD, and this is part of the Memorandum of Understanding between the International Olympic Committee and the World Association of International Federations. The course includes aikido, boxing, judo, jujitlu, karate, kendo, kickboxing, muay thai, lambo, savate, lomo, taekwondo, wrestling, wushu and swordsmanship.
