New PS5 Pro Report: Upgraded Specifications with AMD Zen 5 and RDNA 4 Architectures?
Recently, there has been a lot of buzz surrounding the technical specifications of Sony’s upcoming console, the PS5 Pro. A new report suggests that the device might include the AMD Zen 5 and RDNA 4 architectures, which has piqued the interest of many gaming enthusiasts.
One such enthusiast, Okami Games, is hopeful that the PS5 Pro will feature Zen 5, RDNA 4, and FS3, making it a significant upgrade from the base model that has been available since November 2020.
Okami Games’ Perspective
Okami Games shared their thoughts on the matter:
“When it comes to the PS5 Pro, I think a lot of people forget one thing: next year, AMD will be releasing next-gen CPUs and GPUs. Using Zen 5 and RDNA 4 on the PS5 Pro could be a very significant upgrade over the base console.”
“I also remember that FSR3 is on the way, which could be an important tool. It uses frame generation technology similar to DLSS3 and can mean a massive FPS boost on all consoles.”
However, it is crucial to note that the inclusion of Zen 4 and RDNA 3 architectures in the PS5 Pro seems highly unlikely. AMD’s planned release of these architectures is scheduled for next year, making it improbable for Sony to utilize them in upgrading the mid-gen PlayStation 5. The cost of incorporating these advanced technologies at the time might not be justifiable for a new mid-gen console.
