Day after day, new details are being revealed about the bombing of Istanbul’s busy Istiklal Street, a popular shopping and restaurant street that killed six people, including two children.
Syrian terrorist Ahlam al-Bashir made new shocking confessions. She explained to the investigators how Hadji looked at her and ordered the bomb to be activated!
Al-Bashir, a suspect in the Istanbul attack, said that she was not alone on Istiklal Street at the time of the explosion, but was under surveillance and received orders from the scene.
The explosion took place on Sunday afternoon on the Istiklal pedestrian street in Istanbul’s central Beyoglu district. Six people were killed, 81 more were injured, and the country’s authorities considered the incident a terrorist attack.
Al-Bashir, who left the place in a taxi after the bombing, was arrested and confessed to having links with the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
An NTV report on the matter states: “Terrorist Ahlam al-Bashir, who carried out a terrorist attack organized by the PKK and YPG terrorist organization in Beyoglu, reported important information in Istanbul. The terrorist said that during the attack she was not alone. Attack. Someone was watching her from behind and she was ordered to blow up from the scene.”
Al-Bashir also said in her interrogation testimony that while she was sitting on a bench, a terrorist named Haji looked at the crowd and ordered them to activate the bomb.
State news agency Anadolu reported that Turkish security forces have arrested a wanted suspect in connection with a bomb attack in Istanbul during an operation in Turkish-controlled territory in northwestern Syria.
Other suspects arrested after the bombing will appear in court on Thursday to face possible charges or be released.
Anadolu news agency reported that Turkish police arrested a suspect, known by the military alias “Husam”, late Wednesday in the Syrian city of Azaz, which is currently under the control of the Turkish-backed Syrian opposition. He was taken to Istanbul for interrogation.
The number of detainees in connection with the terrorist attack in Istanbul has exceeded 50 people.
Hussam is being accused of aiding and abetting a Syrian woman accused of leaving a TNT bomb on Istiklal Street, Anadolu news agency reported. Police said the woman, identified as Ahlam al-Bashir, illegally crossed the border into Turkey from Syria and confessed to the attack.
