A spokeswoman for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) said yesterday that NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who has been in office since 2014, does not want another extension of his term after it expires in October. Stoltenberg, 63, was due to leave office in October of that year to take over as president of the Norwegian Central Bank. But NATO leaders decided in March 2022, after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, to extend his powers until September 30, 2023. Wens is a Democratic Socialist who has led NATO since October 2014. He was twice Prime Minister of Norway. from 2000 to 2001 and then from 2005 to 2013.
